Yazmin Joy Vigus is an actor and emerging writer, director and producer. She began her filmmaking journey as a development intern and runner at numerous independent production companies in London. She has also worked as a professional script reader for clients including Vertigo Films and BAFTA Rocliffe. Yazmin acted in and associate produced the fantasy short film La Lune Folle. In 2018, she worked as Director's Assistant on season 3 of The Crown (Netflix). Yazmin's forthcoming debut short film Mermaids, which she wrote, directed, acted in and produced with her team, was backed by BFI Network South West after a successful crowdfunding campaign. The script was based on her personal experiences of returning home to Cornwall from London in the wake of her own quarter life crisis. The film garnered support from several BAFTA and Emmy nominated industry professionals, who worked with Yazmin on the film, including Sound Editor Ian Wilson (The Two Popes), Post-Production Supervisor Reece Ewing (The Crown) and BAFTA-winning Producer Emily Morgan, who is Exec Producer on the film. Mermaids is about female friendship, returning home and being stuck in the 'in-between'. The film stars Daisy Bevan (The Two Faces of January). After a 6 year journey from script to screen, Mermaids was completed in 2021 and is beginning its festival run. In 2020/21, Yazmin was selected to be a part of the BBC Writersroom Cornish Voices to develop an original pilot for television.
