Todd Hoffman is the leader of the Hoffman Crew, and the one of the major focuses of Gold Rush. Todd was the man who originally came up with the idea to go mine in Alaska, based off an adventure his dad did nearly 25 years earlier. He, along with 5 other men (including his dad), go to Porcupine Creek, Alaska in an attempt to make it rich. During their second season, the entire crew went to Quartz Creek after missing a lease payment on their original claim, and Fred Hurt took over.

He is a classically trained actor with an MFA from Southern Methodist University and has worked with such luminaries as Patsy Rodenburg, Jose Rivera, Phyllida Lloyd, Melia Bensussen, and David Rotenberg. Upon graduation he immediately began appearing in regional theatre productions across Canada and the United States. A multi-faceted artist, he appeared as Sky in the smash hit musical "Mamma Mia!" for two years, while co-producing and directing the critically acclaimed Canadian premiere of off-Broadway's cutting edge hit, "Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train". He's been seen and heard in numerous commercials, and his voice has been featured on the animated series "Beyblade". He is also a recurring guest on TSN's nationally syndicated talk show, "Off The Record". He continues to develop new work for theatre, film and television under the tac theatrical banner.

Todd earned his big break after Steven Spielberg saw his UCLA short film, Chicken Thing, and hired him to write and direct for Amazing Stories. (Fun Fact: Chicken Thing was a fictionalized re-telling of that fateful night watching Jonny Quest at 5yo - but adding a giant Chicken Monster, because... why not?) Todd joined the DGA in 1986. He is co-Chair of the Diversity Task Force of the DGA, working to increase the number of women and men of color directing episodic TV. He is happily married to Scotch Ellis Loring and is the loving father of amazing Triplets.
