David Cade was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He developed a wild streak at a young age and was often in trouble throughout his youth. As a result of his behavior, David switched schools multiple times. He was fortunate when a local theater director urged him to audition for main stage production of Footloose. He booked the part of bad boy Chuck Cranston. The experience gave him newfound confidence, and fostered a passion for performing. David received multiple scholarships to attend college for acting, ultimately ending up at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. It was here he booked his first role, as a waiter, in Gus Van Sant's Milk (2008). Soon after, David moved to LA. His first credits were mostly comedies, including guest stars on Scrubs, Baby Daddy, and most famously Big Time Rush, which he recurred on for four seasons as the popular character "Jett Stetson". He followed his breakout on Nickelodeon with credits on TV show's such as Pretty Little Liars, You're The Worst, and Training Day. He also returned to the theater at this time, performing as "Billy" in Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion: The Musical. David transitioned into film starting with Into The Ashes (2019), opposite Frank Grillo and Luke Grimes. He followed that with a memorable performance as the notorious "Bugsy Siegel" in Lansky (2021), starring Harvey Keitel and Sam Worthington. He was favorably reviewed for the role. David recently worked opposite Michael Shannon and Kate Hudson in the comedy Shriver, set for release in 2022. When not working, David resides in the state of Utah. He is also a writer.
