His mother, born in Winona, Minnesota, at the time of David's birth was a teacher for Dayton Public City Schools and taught children with learning disabilities. His father, a Chicago born man worked in hospital administration for a local hospital in Dayton. He has a sister named Kristen Lee Arquilla who is two years older than him. Growing up David enjoyed outdoor activities, sports in particular were his favorite. He enjoyed basketball, baseball, soccer, golf, football, track and more.
