Darren R. Mann is an award-winning director, editor and writer known for Arctic Void, This Cold Life, State of Control and September Tapes. His sci-fi thriller Arctic Void was picked up for distribution by Level 33 Entertainment, and is the northernmost narrative film ever made. His documentary This Cold Life for TIME Studios world premiered at Hot Docs Int'l Film Festival in Toronto, and went on to win multiple Audience Awards at festivals around the world. It was picked up by Sundance TV. He produced and edited American Dream: Detroit, which follows singer Michael Bolton as he takes a look at the remarkable economic comeback in downtown Detroit. The documentary includes interviews with legends Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin, Francis Ford Coppola, Alice Cooper and Jerry Bruckheimer; In addition to films, Darren has directed, produced and edited over 50 hours of broadcast television for such networks as Nat Geo, Discovery, FOX, VH-1, and ESPN, including a 20-episode animal conservation series, Uncaged for Discovery Int'l. His work has led him to such areas as Antarctica, Nepal, Africa, Europe, China, India, Tibet, The Arctic Circle, and the jungles of Borneo, Panama and Rwanda. He holds a degree in Film from Emerson College.
With professional junior hockey behind him, Mann has worked non-stop in film and television, so far in just the past few years alone, shooting in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Toronto, Alabama, Kentucky, and Dubai. He starred in Network Entertainment's Stanley's Game Seven 3D (2012) and the hockey feature film Hello Destroyer (2016), which premiered at the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) in 2016. Mann wrapped production in 2020 on the indie film Embattled (2020), playing a judo prodigy stepping into the MMA cage, antagonized by his estranged father, played by Stephen Dorff. He appeared in Giant Little Ones (2018), House of the Witch (2017) and Twisted Blues (2020). To television fans, Mann recurs as "Luke" in the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (2018). He played guest roles on , Wayward Pines (2015), Van Helsing (2016), The 100 (2014), iZombie (2015), Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce (2014), Imposters (2017), Supernatural (2005), Package Deal (2013), and Some Assembly Required (2014).
Darren Marlar lived in the Kansas City area for the majority of his childhood and teen years, and calls Olathe, KS his hometown. From elementary school onward he found himself entertaining people in some way shape or form. Acting on stage, singing in a variety of choral groups, bands, or as a soloist for competition, getting involved in community theater, and eventually hosting his own radio show. In 2004 Darren moved to the Rockford, Illinois area outside of Chicago and along with radio and acting also stepped into stand-up comedy for a few years. It was in Chicago that Darren found his love for acting again and began landing roles in television and film projects. Darren is also a professional voice artist. Darren has been married to his wife Robin since 1995.
