"Liz en Septiembre", a film by Fina Torres with screenplay by Ms. Torres and Ms. Carr, is in production in Venezuela. This is an adaptation of Jane Chambers' play "Last Summer at Bluefish Cove", of which Camilla co-produced the original award-winning West Coast production. Camilla Carr's most recent screenplay, "Illumination" (an adaptation of Nobel prize recipient Thomas Mann's last novella, "The Black Swan" is in development with producer Stratton Leopold. Her first play, "All About Bette: An Interlude With Bette Davis", has been optioned by two-time Tony Award winning producer, Michael A. Jenkins, who will take it to London's West End, Fall 2012. David Schweizer ("And God Created Whales") is set to direct. The play was first work-shopped under Mr. Schweizer's direction at the Public Theatre in NYC. Camilla's critically acclaimed first novel, "Topsy Dingo Wild Dog", was published internationally, and her screen adaptation of it, "Ms. Canine Divne", although too provocative even for the indie world, has never failed to get her a meeting. She has written many motion pictures for television, including a musical for Dolly Parton, "High and Mighty", the adaptation of Pulitzer-Prize crime journalist Edna Buchanan's novel, "Nobody Lives Forever", and the endlessly aired "Escape from Terror". Camilla's newest novel is "Packard Jordan's Final Appeal to the Texas State Parole Board". She is also writing a screenplay about Bette Davis. Camilla's background as an actress has served her well as a writer. She is the recipient of 3 Dramalogue Awards: Outstanding Performance by an Actress as Sarah in "The Pink Lady". For producing "Last Summer at Bluefish Cove", and for playing Dr. Kitty Cochrane in the same production. For this production, Camilla also received the AGLA Media, Oscar Wilde and Robby Awards, as well as a Proclamation from the City of Los Angeles for Producing Outstanding Theatre. As an Artistic Associate of the Los Angeles Theatre Center, Camilla created the role of Mardian in the World Premiere of Pulitzer Prize recipient Beth Henley's "Sisters of the Winter Madrigal". Also with the LATC, Camilla appeared as Maxine in "Night of the Iguana", Anna in "The Inspector General", Gina in "The Wild Duck" and Betty in "The Stick Wife". Camilla created the role of Rita Connally on the daytime soap "Another World", played Jane Wyman's detective, Nellie, on "Falcon Crest" and is still hissed and booed for her portrayal of Imogene in the most awarded and viewed segment of "Designing Women": "They're Killing All the Right People". This was the first segment about AIDS to ever air on prime time, was featured in the "Designing Women" and "Funny Women in Television" specials, and represents the series in the Television Hall of Fame.
