Richard Young
Richard is a South Asian (Indo-Caribbean) screenwriter/actor. He has written for the television series Overlord and the Underwoods (CBC/BYUtv), Dino Ranch (CBC/Disney+), 16 Hudson (TVO), and co-created/wrote the Chinese-Canadian digital series Sudden Master (OMNI/Rogers). Accolades for Richard's screenplays include: Coverfly Red List, Just For Laughs ComedyPRO Pitch Finalist, ScreenCraft Sci-Fi & Fantasy Screenwriting Competition Finalist, Stowe Story Labs Final Draft Fellowship Finalist, WGC Script Of The Month selection, and Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest Quarterfinalist.
Richard's screen acting credits include Jett (Cinemax), Taken (NBC), Kim's Convenience (Netflix-CBC), Endlings (Hulu-CBC) and Odd Squad Mobile Unit (PBS-TVO). His stage acting credits include three productions of The New Canadian Curling Club (Betty Mitchell Award Nominee - Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble), Men Express Their Feelings and The Grass is Greenest at the Houston Astrodome. He is an alumnus of the Humber College Acting for Film & Television Program and the Factory Theatre Mechanicals (Actor Development) Program.
Born just outside Toronto Canada, Young took a circuitous route to the arts, completing a BSc. in Psychology (Queen's University) and an MBA (Schulich/York University) before pursuing his passion full-time.
