Karam Gill
Karam Gill is a filmmaker and creative director based in LA. He was recently featured in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list and was one of Variety's Top 10 Documentary Filmmakers to Watch. His projects use pop culture as an entry point to explore larger social issues in our world. They are known for being heavily stylized and blending both documentary and narrative aesthetics.
Karam made his directorial debut with G Funk (2017) - the untold story of Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg & the rise of hip-hop's most iconic sub-genre. G Funk world premiered at the SXSW Film Festival, making Karam the youngest director to have a feature doc premiere at SXSW (22 years old). Recently, Karam partnered with Universal Music Group, Quality Control & Migos on the doc series Ice Cold, which used jewelry to explore deeper themes around materialism & racial perception. The series premiered at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival.
Karam also partnered with Academy Award winning producer, Brian Grazer, to write & direct Showtime's doc series Supervillain: The Making of Tekashi 6ix9ine. The series examined digital culture through the concept of 'manufactured celebrity' and was produced alongside Rolling Stone, Lightbox & Imagine Entertainment.
Karam is the co-founder of production company & creative agency, MGX Creative. MGX has generated 4+ billion views on branded content and is in production on several documentaries + docuseries. Alongside the team at MGX, Karam served as Creative Director for Marshmello, helping oversee content strategy and production during the first 3 years of the artist's career. During that time Marshmello's YouTube subscribers grew from 25k to 45+ million.
