David Chai
Born in Brunei, David spent his childhood in New Zealand and Australia. David enjoyed the creative energy participating in the high school musicals "Grease" and "Little Shop of Horrors", which led to studying acting at the Actor's Center before finding his real calling behind the camera. His first break was working for a commercial editing house before completing a Bachelor in Film at the University of Technology, Sydney. He worked as an editor for most of the major TV networks in Sydney with a short stint on "Mission Impossible 2" as VFX playback, before relocating to the United States. David worked for major post houses Technicolor and Deluxe in New York, working on many films including "The Devil Wears Prada", and Ang Lee's "Taking Woodstock".
Leaving Deluxe, he entered the world of fashion videos for major fashion brands Calvin Klein, Gucci, Victoria Beckham, Marc Jacobs and many more. He also began his professional screenwriting journey and completed the Proseries, the Master Series, and the Bingeworthy TV courses at ScreenwritingU.
David's first feature as Writer / Director, Midnight Driver (aka Siji:Driver), won the Best Feature Film and Best Original Score awards at the 21st Long Island International Film Expo 2018. David was also nominated for Best Director.
David created the TV series "A Good Cop" for NTD. He Wrote and Directed all ten episodes of this one hour serial police drama while also serving as Showrunner.
